Meet José.
José is a clinical neuropsychologist, holding master's degrees from both the University of Groningen in the Netherlands (MSc Clinical Neuropsychology) as well as from Université Paris Descartes and Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (M1 & M2 Economics and Psychology) in France.
Initially starting her clinical career in the Netherlands and then having moved abroad ten years ago, she has nearly 15 years of working experience in multiple countries. José has worked in a broad variety of settings, from hospitals to governmental organisations, with people from all sorts of cultural backgrounds. In her personal practice in central Paris, her focus lies on working with adults, most of them expatriates that have moved to France.
She offers both diagnostics and therapy for adults in English and Dutch, and is trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR and mindfulness, which she uses in an integrated way. These tools help her to work with people that come to therapy to get to know themselves better, while focusing on breaking negative beliefs and negative patterns in behaviours, but also help processing unpleasant and traumatic experiences. Furthermore, she has a specialization in women's mental health, which concerns topics like menstrual health, pre/postnatal mental health and menopause.
Her main goal is building a trusting relationship by having a warm and welcoming approach. She takes an individual, proactive approach during therapy, identifying dysfunctional patterns in behaviour and subsequently trying to break these patterns by challenging thoughts and behaviours.
